On November 28, 2022 construction started on the cotton flat bridge. Due to this many people that live south of the bridge have had to find new routes to their destinations wether if it was for school, work or leisure. Even though this was an inconvenience to our routes we seem to of made it work. But then a whisper has been spreading that The City of Midland is planning to start construction on the Midkiff bridge BEFORE finishing the work they started on the CottonFlat bridge. This is unacceptable! This decision will cause major congestion on Rankin Highway that is already experiencing 30 minute traffic waits and unfortunately leaving us to yet again find new routes to simply go to our homes. With projections that these bridge projects could potentially be finished in 2024 I strongly urge the city of midland to finish one project before starting the next. Not including that since starting the initial demolition of the cotton flat bridge there has not been any progress nor machinery that insinuates any urgency or promise that work will soon begin. Finish the job you started!!
