As vested citizens of the University District and all residents of the City of Buffalo, we vehemently oppose the New York State approval process for the location of a new opioid treatment facility in the Cleve Hill Plaza. The project administrator, Hopewell failed to provide transparency and obtain community approval before submitting their request to New York State. This system simply much change! Community members should always have a seat at the table to gauge the economic, social and neighborhood benefits of all projects. The clients will be bussed in from outlying areas, without a clear plan on them returning to their community after treatment. The increase of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic at an already congested intersection, we will surely see more accidents. Panhandling and loitering will increase. There are already at least four of said treatment facilities all within a five minute drive from each other. We are saturated!
