Thousands of tenants of Public Sector Undertaking like LIC, Nationalised Banks etc have become victims of gross misuse Public Premises Act. They do not transmit tenancy to legal heirs after the death of recorded tenant. PSUs force them to sign Lease Agreement and snatch away tenancy right of the legal heir. If tenant refuses to sign Lease Agreement, he or she is issued eviction notice. Even widows of 90 years of age have not been spared. It the right of legal heirs to ask for the tenancy right on the same terms his predecessor enjoyed immediately prior to his death. No new tenancy is created in the case of a legal heir on the death of a recorded tenant. PSUs stop sending Rent Bills and issue Deposit Receipts instead of Rent Receipts which amounts to fraudulent practice. There are hundreds of litigations pending in various courts. Litigants are forced to approach courts.
