Sin Terence started this petition to Finance Minister and

We are a group of professionals in the Interior Design Trade.
Noting on the vulnerable and weak market for the past year, we are already not bringing enough home because we are fully dependent on commissions after handover of projects to home owners.

With the spread of the COVID19, we are already almost on ground zero since early this year and are now facing greater hardships going end of April coming May, ever since our works got stopped in March because of the workers banned from entering Singapore (from our neighbour - JB) and then full half from early April.
As retailing of the trade are forced to come to a full halt, our projects are also stopped from handover and monies are all stuck with our sub-contractors, yet we still need to pay for all our business expenses for the showrooms and offices.

Whilst we appreciate the rebate from the Government, our landlord is not assisting with further reduction in rental for this trying period despite pleas.
All we got is;-
"We empathize the situation you are in. Covid19 pandemic spares no one, hence we are going through the same situation like you.
We are still waiting for IRAS notice, which is likely in May 2020 that we will have the rebate notice. Credit note will issue against the rebate amount from IRAS notice.
Yes, rental payment has to continue by your company within the tenure, if you were to give up all term and condition is to abide as in our rental agreement.
This Covid 19 hit all levels.
We are also one of them."
We have reason to believe there are many out there, facing the same situation like us but we also believe that there are good landlords out there who are willing to go the extra mile to help their tenants with the additional 10% - 30% reduction in rent for this trying period.
We are all in it together but it is also during this trying period, that we see both human compassion and the ugly side to it.
All that for a few hundreds of dollars, which to us small companies, makes all the difference as compared to a big company!
Smaller companies bear the brunt of the impact first as we are already facing tremendous pressure and spending on marketing in order to compete with the financially stronger and bigger companies.

The government have indeed been trying all ways to help Singaporean from all walks of life and trades but it so happened that we belong to a group that is neither here nor there.
We can bring our services online but we cannot start nor handover projects - which is the main source of income, especially more so for a small team who concentrates on quality instead of quantity of sales!

We are self-employed and yet we are not automatically eligible for Self-employed grant, requiring to appeal (and may also face rejection).

Facing a total loss of income and mounting pressure from all on-going essential expenses, we would like to seek more understanding from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and the NTUC task team to look into our plight as well.
Truly and Sincerely hoping for our plight to be addressed.

Thank you.
