Yianni Diakomihalis is currently a wrestler at the University of Cornell and is going into his junior year. He is 20 years old and happens to be one of the best wrestlers of this time despite his young age. Tonight, June 8th of 2019, Yianni wrestled another great and respectable wrestler, Zain Retherford, for a shot at the US world team and was very clearly robbed of his 2nd match win. At the end of the match, the score was settled at 8-6 Yianni being the winner. After the match was said and done, Zain’s corner threw in the challenge block to see if they could get a last second controversial change in the match. Unfortunately they did get this change despite the almost indisputable video evidence showing Yianni initiating a move to score 2 points. To add on to the controversy, the refs looked back just about a minute back into the match to make the incorrect change which is rediculous, unfair, and unjust. This petition has been made to overturn this inaccurate call in order to give Yianni another shot at the world team, which he should have already made. This is the only way to make things fair in this great sport and for the young athlete who was stripped of his spot on the US World Team.
