Death penalty is one of the most well-known issue in the Philippines. Death penalties are government-sanctioned practices, in which a person is put to death by the state as punishment for a particular crime. It is also known as Capital Punishment. The death penalty deters individuals from committing crimes; therefore, the crime rates decreases. As a respond to society's demands for justice, the death penalty as a form of retribution is justified because the criminal deserves the punishment fitted to the severity of the crime he/she committed.
