Fighting climate change, the signature way
The dairy industry is under a false narrative. Farmers have been working for years towards eliminating methane emissions and becoming net neutral. Net neutrality is defined as having net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. The nation's goal is to be net neutral by 2050. A recent study by UC Davis scientists has shown that net neutrality is within reach. Asparagopsis taxiformis, a species of red seaweed, shows immense promise for significantly reducing dairy methane emissions. Scientists have concluded that adding 1 percent of seaweed to the cows' diet can reduce their methane emissions by up to 60 percent. Growing this type of seaweed is expensive and supply is limited. An organization called Greener Grazing has made it its mission to rapidly build supply and to help combat climate change. Add your name, to urge legislators to make it a priority to provide subsidies to grow red seaweed in sufficient quantities, so that farmers can fully adopt this method. Together, we can make a difference, and it starts with your signature.
