Why this petition matters

Started by Shayla Holloway

In the year and a half that Mr. Rose has been apart of the Enloe faculty, he has impacted the lives of everyone he has come across. On top of his work in Student Services and the busy life he leads outside of school, in recent months, Mr. Rose extended a helping hand to the kids of the Black Student Union during their time of need. Our previous advisor, Ms. Taylor left suddenly over the summer and we were left without guidance for the Black Student Union (BSU). It took quite a few weeks to find someone, as no one wanted to take this long-standing student organization under their wings--but then we found Mr. Rose. He unofficially stepped up into a role to help craft and salvage a legacy that already had a foundation. In doing this he has become more than just an unofficial advisor, but a trusted mentor to all of BSU, which consists of over 100 Enloe students, and the bigger Enloe student body as well.

We are very saddened to learn that as of 11/14, he has been forced from his role at Enloe, due to certain individuals stating that his relationship with students is too “tight-knit”. The fact that sympathizing with and caring about the students in our school system can be met with termination without notice is unfair to any educational worker. Should teachers and administration fear that their jobs could be in jeopardy just because they want to see their kids succeed? By stripping Mr. Rose of his job title, that is the message that is being sent to not only the staff at Enloe, but to workers across the Wake County School System.

We very much wish to have him reinstated into his role not only for BSU, but for the light that he brings to the Enloe student body. By signing this petition, you can help us in the fight to have Mr. Rose re-instated at Enloe Magnet High School as soon as possible.
