No Limit On Gymnasts Allowed To Compete In All-Around

No Limit On Gymnasts Allowed To Compete In All-Around
The Issue
The 2012 London Olympics have started. A big sport in the summer Olympics is WAG, or Women's Artistic Gymnastics. Jordyn Wieber is the 2011 World Champion. She is unable to go into the Individual All-Around competition in the Olympics. This is complete bull. She should have the chance to, considering she won the World Championships. After all, anyone who wins the AA Gold can't say the beat the world champion. Jordyn Wieber had the final score of 60.032 in prelims. That is a HUGE score. She cannot compete in individual all-around because of some stupid 2 per country rule. She scored over 60, why should she be left out? Just because 2 of her teammates did better then her? I'm sorry but how can you say you are the an Olympic Champion in gymnastics, if you didn't beat the best gymnasts? She beat most of the gymnasts there. Jordyn Wieber is not the only victim of this rule, there are many more gymnasts from all different countries who have had their dreams shattered due to this rule. This includes, Bridget Sloan, Deng Linlin, Ksenia Afanasyeva, AnaMaria Tamirjan, Mohini Bhardwaj, Yelena Zamolodchikova and Alona Kvasha (Big thanks to Sarah!). It is highly unfair. If gymnasts they beat are going to the all around, then they should be going too If you are one of the top gymnasts, you should be able to compete in the All-Around, no matter how many gymnasts from your country are going. After all, it is suppose to be a competition between the worlds best gymnasts, and if the best gymnasts are left out because of some unfair 2-per-country rule, you CAN'T say you beat the best. All I ask is if a girl trains her entire life for a dream, that dream shouldn't be put to an end because of some 2 per country rule. Gymnasts who place in the top in prelims, should be able to compete dispite how many athletes are from what country, if they are the best athletes, they deserve the chance. This rule should have never even been made in the first place.
