Reverse the decision to cut PSA hours at Crossgates PS
0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!
For the second year running the number of hours allocated to Crossgates Primary School for pupil support assistants has been significantly cut by Fife Council. This has resulted in the school losing a valuable member of staff who not only benefits the pupil she supports, the class she works in but the whole school. PSA support is a school resource, trips, playground cover, wet break cover, first aid, assistance at school events, sports day, Christmas shows and the like. The list is endless. In addition, to this they assist children who do not ‘qualify’ for additional support yet need it.
The PSA staff are contracted for part time hours. However, until last year they worked full time hours. The council cut back to basic hours. A loss of 36hrs support. This year the school will lose a staff member, a further 17hours.
The school simply cannot provide the help required with not only less hours but less staff.
The school has no influence over staffing and they really do try their best but the continuing cuts will affect their ability to deliver and will have a knock on affect to all pupils.
The teachers without PSA support will require to spend more time with additional needs children disadvantaging the whole class.
Please do something to help our children get not only the education they need but deserve.
