Women's Asian Chess Championship 2018 is being organised in Iran. The country known for it's dictatorial practice of forcing 'hijabs'. Iran is an islamic country that refuses to seperate religion and state. Due to this, not only the residents of Iran have to wear 'hijabs' but also all the players who will arrive in the country in leiu of these games will also be forced to wear these regressive head gears. Without taking into consideration their choice, faith or tradition.

Due to this heavy tresspass on the freedom of women, Indian chess star Saumya Swaminathan has pulled out of this competition and many more will follow.

This is not the first time the stance has been taken, 2017 women world chess championship was boycotted by the last year's champion Hou Yifan; champion of 2015,  Mariya Muzychuk, US champion Nazi Paikidze, World no. 4 and Indian Champion Humpy Konera and many others.

This is not just about chess, or 1 sport. This is so much more than that. This is about forcing regressive practices. This is about pushing women back into the shackles of oppression which took many years and many more lives to break. This is about asking them to choose between freedom and future. This is about you and me.
