Dear Fr. Peddicord and Mr. Groom,

For the past 2 years we have gone along with the protocols, masking, quarantine, contact tracing, testing, vaccines, and cancellations of special events that our children will never get back.

We have buried too many friends not from Covid, but from suicide and drug overdose caused by the unending restrictions that never made sense. We have watched what should have been some of the best years of our kids lives at Fenwick ruined as they were constantly wondering what momentous occasion would be taken from them next. They haven’t forgotten that their homecoming dance was cancelled only to have it replaced with 2 hours dressed up standing outside on the football field while the Fenwick Friar Black-tie Gala still went on 2 weeks later, indoors at Drury Lane. Bottom line- it wasn’t only hypocritical, it was cruel.

None of it made sense and we sent countless emails and made several calls only to be told “we are following the guidance as set by (insert agency du hour)”. We have repeatedly asked for a Town Hall meeting but “because it wasn’t safe”, so we asked for transparency through a Zoom and were left with crickets.

Fast forward to today, we are watching the ENTIRE WORLD open up and schools around us go mask optional as our kids showed up to school this past Monday only to be met like criminals in the parking lot by a full force of Fenwick staff and security officers. It was insulting and demoralizing, especially given the fact that Fr. Peddicord just spent the entire weekend in Naples at an indoor fundraising event which embarrassingly has made its way all over social media.

You owe the parents who have supported you the decency of a meeting whether in person or zoom. We are done being patient and we want answers.
