Mask Optional at Fenton High School

Mask Optional at Fenton High School
This policy needs to change. After a decision was made on Friday, February 4th, that overturned governor J.B. Pritzker's mask mandate in schools across Illinois, Fenton and Superintendent Ongtengco decided to enforce masks still. With multiple schools in the surrounding area, such as York and Addison Trail, Fenton still thinks it is the best decision not to give students a choice to wear a mask. During COVID, students ages 14-18 have been in the category of least at risk to COVID. Yes, COVID has caused deaths, and some students live with others who are at a higher risk. However, this is why masks need to be OPTIONAL. Therefore if students feel they need to wear a mask, they could still wear one. It is time to end the past mandates and follow the judge's decision to overturn the mandate.
