If there were a fenced in, designated off leash dog area  at Arroyo Park or the field by Patwin school in West Davis, many important needs would be met.  Safety would be greatly increased for all.          

Most importantly, a fenced in area for dogs would separate people who don't want to interact with dogs from those that love that interaction.  

Many dogs live with their families in West Davis and want to visit the Park daily because of the close proximity to their homes.  Having an exercise place close by saves time, money, and other resources.  It also reduces the carbon footprint of needing to drive miles away.  A fenced in dog exercise area at Arroyo Park or the field by Patwin school would be an ideal place where dogs could run freely, interact with other dogs, and where their families can throw balls for them to chase.  An area like this would also be a nice place where  the dogs' families can get together to talk and build Community ties.
