As a female in the construction industry, a lot of times our needs are disregarded in terms of our disadvantages amongst most men. I have worked these sites a number of years & we still have issues in the sanitation department. I can not count the number of times I had to dismiss myself to use the restroom, & they are either inaccessible, unsanitary and/or missing tissue. These porta-potty’s would stay on site for days without being cleaned or being replenished. We as woman have different needs & every month we have a special friend that comes to visit. Most sites contain 20+ men & woman on a daily basis, 8-10 hours throughout the day. You’d think the supervisors & builders would take into account, that we are humans too & deserve proper places for times of privacy. Without proper care & sanitary locations to handle our business, we are made to feel like we are less than. Im asking that all construction sites have adequate access to rest areas, female friendly rest areas, & regular cleanings. With COVID going away, it seems like sanitation is no longer important. I would like us to get back to the constant sanitizing, constant cleanliness, & as always, staying HEALTHY. Help me push this change amongst construction sites all across the country! I’m standing up for my fellow sisters & brothers in the industry. We are a part of building this country & we deserve the same respect as all of our workers do.
