Earlier this semester, the nursing students of Felician University were informed that they would no longer have the freedom to create their own schedules. The reason given was to alleviate the “stress” that comes from creating a schedule. However, we the students feel that this new “improvement” has done nothing more than create more stress. In that email we were also informed that we have 6 months to figure out childcare, work, etc as if our family and our main sources of income can be rearranged due to that amount of time. Not all students in this nursing school are just nursing students; Therefore, not all students can push everything outside of school to the side. It is a freedom of attending a university to be able to fix your schedule to your availability. We are well aware that there has been multiple issues with arranging schedules in the past but this is not a solution. This will only cause more issues as well as add stress on the students. We, the STUDENTS, did not have a say in this decision and are having a hard time seeing how this “benefits” us. We appreciate the anticipated improvements of the program; However, this is most definitely not one of them!
