A substantial increase in the Atlanta budget for parks and recreation for Atlanta youth

A substantial increase in the Atlanta budget for parks and recreation for Atlanta youth
Why this petition matters
There has been an increase in the amount of delinquent activity committed by Atlanta’s youth since the beginning of the coronavirus. This can be directly attributed to the lack of immediately visible community infrastructure in support of our youth to prevent them from engaging in criminal activity. There should be pressure from the Black community within Fulton County placed on City Council officials to increase the amount of funds contributed to parks and recreation centers to help combat this issue. One of the reasons that the council will use to deny requests will be attributed to the unsafe crowd that will be attracted to these centers in the inner city. Police support would be much appreciated in this effort as they have continuously received grants and funding from our City Council throughout covid. There should be funding for sports programs and educational resources for youth in our recreation centers. Computer science programs should be implemented with this funding, as well as safe transportation for the youth. Majority of the funds procured should be dedicated to the creation of these programs within our recreation centers. Youth sports programs should be a direct reflection of the engagement in educational programs to incentivize children to engage. Educational programs, recreational funding, food, transportation and security would be the focus of the funds procured from this petition. We are calling specifically on Doug Shipman of the City council and Alex Wan of the Finance Executive committee/District 6 to get this approved and tell us exactly why we our receiving the amount of funds that we are after it has been approved. The reason that this petition is important is because Atlanta’s Black youth is in need of as much assistance as possible to ensure their steady development during the Coronavirus pandemic. There has been a drastic change in the way that our youth attends school. Accompanied with that change needs to be resources to improve the results of our youth’s outcomes.
