The President and Executive Committee

Delhi and its neighbouring states have been directed by the Supreme Court-mandated Environment Pollution Control Authority to form patrolling teams by October 15 to monitor waste burning, while the municipal bodies have been directed to prepare a contingency plan.  To add to farm waste burning, Deepavali crackers are going to contribute to the worsening pollution situation around us.  Not to mention the ever-increasing traffic pollution.

Doctors in the neigbourhood have already started logging increased incidences of respiratory problems, esp among vulnerable groups - children, senior citizens and pets.

We the residents of Heritage City seek your intervention to declare this Deepvali as a NO CRACKERS event.

In addition communicating this, you are requested to ensure compliance as well.

As an alternative, similar lighting for Heritage Blocks and Rangoli are proposed community activities and some residents don't mind individual contribution towards it.
