In the words of my friend living in Lebanon, “We barely have any electricity, clean water, or WiFi. We’re one of the most polluted countries in the world because of our garbage crisis (basically some places are just filled with garbage on the streets and the government is unwilling to do anything about it). So yay for diseases that we can’t even treat because we don’t have the resources for it because we don’t have healthcare- and the hospitals we do have are so expensive that you’ll die waiting for treatment. Unemployment is now 85% soon to be over 90%, people are starving, schools are shutting down, thousands of people are losing their jobs this year, and we’re going through an economical crisis because of our demolished tourism revenue. The protesters that just want their human rights are getting beaten up by the followers of political parties and tear gassed by the Military who drop water bombs on protesters, but not on the wildfires that spread in Beirut and in Baalbek. Every once in a while, we’re out of gas- like there’s literally no gas in the country to run vehicles. A week ago, we were out of bread in the grocery stores. Barely anyone can afford a college education, but they still go in debt by putting their children in private schools, because public schools are basically mafias with lots of drugs, and 0 education.”

FMSC, you make an amazing difference for many places around the world. We urge you to seriously consider supporting more Middle Eastern countries- particularly Lebanon.

Everyone else, these issues may not be as strongly voiced as others, but they are so important. You may believe there isn’t much you can do to help, but that’s simply not true. Start by spreading the word. We need everybody’s help to bring the changes that so many people need. You’re important, and your voice can be loud if you use it.
