This evil rule has persisted for many years as official Statistics textbooks and learning materials are printed with this rule specifically in mind to mess with its subjects' heads. I.e. 'Do the data support the conclusion that Cheetos cause obesity in women over forty?'. It sounds unnatural and contrary to the convoluted but already pre-established English rules. it would make much more sense to say 'Does the data support the conclusion that...'. It sounds professional and seamless. If we, as a reasonable and level-headed society, let this abomination continue, what do we care as a society about Statistics students and common-sense English-speakers who are likewise confounded by this bizarre niche in our language? We would demonstrate our apathy toward the plights of millions of academics across the English speaking world by turning a blind eye on the continued dominance of this rule. Ridding the world of this cruel joke of a rule would make the lives of countless people easier, and allow for the simpler education of all the many people who come into contact with statistics on a daily basis, and allow for the unhindered advancement of the statistical community. And if we've failed to convince you by this point, you're probably a perpetrator of this wretched law of English. Thank you for your time.
