Extension of Bayly Street walking track, Mulwala

Bayly Street, Mulwala
is a fast-paced 80km street that is runs roughly East to West. This street is not only used by residents traveling to and from their homes but also employees accessing the Thales factory as well as being a main entry point for tourists visiting the Murray River.

The wide areas of land that lie on either side of this narrow street are constantly lined with overgrown grasses and weeds along with a healthy population of wildlife including a significant amount of Kangaroos. Bayly Street also has a number of crests and small hills all of which make visibility of pedestrians extremely difficult.

The rapid development of housing estates in the local area has seen a significant rise in families settling in this area, subsequently an increase in both pedestrian and vehicle traffic, including heavy haulage vehicles that travel along Bayly Street to enter Thales factory.

Many children and families in the area are forced to walk this stretch of road without the safety of a satisfactory footpath/walking track. With no alternative route, local traffic from the housing estates that utilise Bayly Street and adjoining streets further increases the volume of general traffic in the area.

As you may be aware, there was a tragic accident that occurred on Bayly Street that unfortunately resulted in a fatality. People are sharing a very busy road with a large volume of traffic; it is only a matter of time before we see yet another accident occur on this street!

A clearly defined pedestrian path away from motorised traffic has become essential in improving the safety for pedestrians of all ages on this increasingly dangerous stretch of road!

Your signature of support is very much appreciated.
