P West started this petition to Governor Kim Reynolds

On June 12,2021 Iowa Governor Reynolds discontinued Covid unemployment for PEUC, PUA, and FUPC to thousands of Iowans with less than a months notice.  As a self-employed worker I have found it nearly impossible to regain contracts because of the financial impact on businesses from the Pandemic.  Many businesses are still cutting expenses in their budgets which means no funding for my consulting services.

The fact that most of the population can be or is vaccinated doesn’t change the fact the the financial impact is still very present.  Our state was literally shut down for a year.  Giving people a 30 day notice who had expected they had another 90 days is unfair to the struggling hard worker people.

The Iowa people are caught up in the political games and are paying the price because of “reports” that businesses need workers.  The jobs that are available are not ones that will pay for health insurance, daycare expenses, or can accommodate working parents to get daycare.  Not the 9-5 jobs we had before.

We are not lazy, we are hard working Iowans that are unsure how to get our financial independence back.  We are tax paying citizens who deserve these benefits.  We didn’t ask for it, but we are now because we are still trying to put our lives back to pre-pandemic.
