Ride-Share Drivers Covid-19 Emergency Fund
Ride-Share Drivers Covid-19 Emergency Fund

Many Ride-Share drivers work full-time for Lyft or Uber and do not have any benefits because they don't want to adhere to Assembly Bill 5, which the State of California passed as law and should have gone into effect as of January 1, 2020. This bill deemed drivers as employees, and as already stated above, Lyft and Uber haven't complied to, yet. With the Corona Virus, it has made it difficult to make a living as customers are not going places out of fear of being contaminated, and rightly so. Without help, many families will be negatively affected in their economy. Lyft and Uber have said that they will help those affected by the Corona Virus, but only if they have the actual virus (up to 2 weeks). It's time for these companies to be held accountable and participate in their share of Social Responsibility to those that have work under their platforms.
