I am starting this petition to bring attention to Greyhound’s lack of customer service and unethical business practices.  I am a broke college student who can not pay for expensive flights to and from my hometown. I have no other choice but to chose another form of transportation. It is usually between Megabus and Greyhound but I end up choosing Greyhound every time because they have the “cheapest” option.  I have ridden with them a number of times and the majority of my rides end up being problematic in one way or another. I could go on about the terrible experiences I have had but I feel like anyone reading this who has taken a trip with Greyhound knows what I am talking about.

There are thousands of complaints on various sites about Greyhound, and along with this they received an F rating by the Better Business Bureau.  For a business that has been around for 105 years this is pathetic and embarrassing. From my perspective, Greyhound customers are a specific demographic that can easily be taken advantage of and those in charge are doing just this. Two weeks ago I booked an express trip with them to Philadelphia. I showed up to the station the day of my trip and waited in line until an employee informed me that my bus had been overbooked. After all of this I was left stranded at the station so I visited their website in hope of finding someone to email about the matter but did not find anything.  My only option was to mail them my complaint via postal services or call them (I find it strange that such an established business would use postal services to process complaints in an era that mainly communicates via technology). I proceeded to call their reimbursement services but an automated voice answered telling me to “enter my incident number.” I was never given an “incident number” so I resorted to mailing them the letter and have yet to hear back. After doing some research I realized that incidents like mine happen quite frequently. Customer reviews stated that Greyhound had refused to refund them their money, and in some cases they had ignored their complaint entirely. Like stated previously, I have had a number of experiences like the one mentioned above and I know many of you have as well.

I understand that it must be hard for Greyhound to please the thousands who ride with them every day but from a intuitive standpoint I feel that something is wrong.  It is immoral and unethical to have such a lack of compassion for the 17.2 million customers who use their service a year. After 105 years, I believe it is only fair to assume that a business should well be established and organized. I would like for the Federal Trade Commission to run an investigation on Greyhound Lines, Inc. Please join me and sign this petition if you have ever felt scammed, duped or cheated after riding with Greyhound. Visit the Federal Trade Commission's website directly (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1 if you would like to fill out a complaint form and expedite the progress of this petition.
