Major social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, have had the use of their companies for direct tobacco marketing and funding banned. However, large tobacco mega-corporations, such as British American Tobacco, Imperial Brands, and Big Tobacco, have stretched regulations and abused loopholes in order to promote their brands through the feeds of social media stars and hashtags. When future generations see the reference to these tobacco-products, they expect cigarette-use to be normality and encouraged. It is against Federal Trade Commission policies to participate in discrete, undisclosed advertising, as tobacco mega-corporations do so regularly in our modernized society. If we turn a blind eye, mega-tobacco corporations will profit off of addiction and fatality of younger generations, causing the cigarette pandemic to worsen.
