Better protect consumer's private data

In its brazen failure to protect consumer data, Equifax allowed cybercriminals to steal private data of 143 million Americans. However, as one of the only three major credit agencies in the United States, consumer data are likely to continue to flow into the company because of existing credit reporting processes. We must stop the data flow into a company that has completely failed in its role as a guardian of private data of over one hundred million consumers. We hereby request that the FTC require businesses which report consumer data to credit agencies to provide consumers the capability to opt out of reporting to Equifax, effective immediately, in order to stop continuous harm to consumers.
