Why this petition matters

Started by Sofia Sibila

Federal Student Aid only allows six months after a student graduates, leaves school, or decides for dual enrollment to start paying student loans. During this time a student must figure out if they would like to consolidate or refinance their loans, find a job, as well as figure out a repayment plan for their future. This six month time period does not allow students to confidently figure out their future. The grace period should be extended to at least 9 months after a student graduates. This extended period will allow students to make the best choices for themselves and confidently say they are ready for their future.
