Cheri Lynne started this petition to Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA) (Fannie Mae) and

Please tell Fannie Mae to stop trying to take a Mom's life savings and to give back her down payment.

This Mom has been fighting the big banks by herself in court without an attorney but now she needs some help.

The Short Version: A single Mom applied for a home loan.  Bank of America was caught having falsified the Mom's income and other data to fake a loan approval in the Fannie Mae underwriting system.  Fannie Mae then purchased the loan from Bank of America.

When Bank of America's loan fraud was brought to the attention of Fannie Mae Corporate.  Fannie Mae insisted that since Fannie Mae had not actually done the fraud, they believed Fannie Mae should still be allowed to profit from the illegal transaction.

The Mom fought back.  But she could not afford an attorney and has been fighting against the big bank by herself for several years.  She agreed that the original loan money should be given back to Fannie Mae and was willing to immediately return the funds so that all parties could cancel the loan as if it never happened but Fannie Mae wanted more than they were owed from the original loan.  The  Mom has stood her ground stating that if a criminal is not allowed to profit from a crime so Fannie Mae should not be profiting from mortgage fraud.

We recently found out that Fannie Mae intentionally hid the information about the loan fraud- it ends up they knew about it all along but instead of making things right  - Fannie Mae keeps trying to get the Mom to pay almost $250,000 in their attorney fees and other claimed funds (twice what the house was worth) instead of just finally admitting the loan was fraudulent, taking back their money and canceling the loan.

Fannie Mae wants to take the Mom's life savings and the 20%  down payment she put into the house instead of just taking the loan amount that they are properly owed and moving on.  You can make a difference.
