David Latham started this petition to Federal Government
The arts sector has suffered enormously during COVID, but the truth is that for the last 25 years it has been severely underfunded and is now at a critical juncture.
Besides employing the third largest amount of people in Australia (193,000) and contributing $14.9bn to GDP each year, the arts define who we are as a nation.
The arts need a significant boost in government funding and changes to arts policy. By signing this petition I support the following measures:
- More Australian culture and content on our screens, speakers, walls, stages, and pages
- More funding for our schools to generate the next wave of Australian musicians, actors, writers, and artists
- More support for small and local Australian artists
