Federal Election Commission: Mandatory non-partisan fact-checkers at all presidential debates.

Choosing a president is the most important vote you can cast as an American citizen. For many people who don't actively follow politics in America, they may ultimately choose their candidate based on three or four 90 minute debates. These debates can cover a wide variety of topics, but one thing is certain, at every debate, each candidate will accuse the other one of lying. Unfortunately, as a voter, you have decide who is telling the truth.
With the resources we have in the 21st century, I believe this is a decision that should not have to be made based on facial expressions and body language. There should be 3 non-partisan fact-checking moderators at every debate, to provide the public the information they need to make that decision. I believe this would be incredibly helpful for voters, hold politicians accountable for what they say, and ultimately make the candidates think twice about lying to the public.
I can't imagine how anyone would think this is a bad idea, and honestly, I don't know why it's never been considered. Americans should not have to sift through rhetoric and talking points to find the truth. Force politicians to be held responsible for what they say, and allow Americans to make an informed decision based on facts, not talking points.
Please join me in signing this petition, and tell politicians that it's no longer acceptable to lie to voters.
