Internet is a necessity for me. I'm a student and have a toddler. Public libraries limit the time each person can spend online, such that it's impossible to get anything done. If I took a test online at a library, I'd be kicked off before the test was finished. This happens all the time to online students and it affects their ability to succeed. Not to mention the lack of privacy and cost of travel involved. All U.S. citizens should have access to the internet.

My students need to have access to the internet! I want them to read books! I want them to engage in educational activities! Please give our kids and their parents the opportunities they deserve!

Broadband access is impossible to afford for many people, and more important than phone service!

For people with low income, the Internet has become more of a necessity rather than a luxury. There is always paperwork to be done and many agencies prefer to do it online, otherwise you could spend half a day going to a "local" office. I still work PT and my employer posts the next week's work schedule online, otherwise you have to go in on your time off to check *their* computer! Cable TV is outrageously expensive if you want more of the quality channels. On the TV news, newspapers and other printed media they now give limited information and tell the viewers/readers to go to their website for more information! The newspapers have gotten smaller and are full of more ads than news! If you have access to the Internet, especially if you live in an area which has frequent severe weather alerts, you can get alerts by computer or by phone...but you can't sign up unless you do so on the Internet. Long distance calling is expensive and there are apps on the Internet that allow free domestic calling and only pennies per minute internationally. This becomes extremely important when you have immediate family who live in foreign countries and you need to keep in touch frequently. We live in HUD housing and only have two Internet options and one cable TV option. One of the Internet/Phone options offers Lifeline but it's for phone only, with a lower speed less expensive Internet. We would like a reliable speed, less expensive Internet.

Access to the Internet is a necessity in today's world and should be treated as a Common Carrier, as the telephone is characterized.

Now-a-days, the internet is a necessary tool to communicate, for educational purposes, applying for work, etc. Everyone should be able to access the internet, in my opinion, for free. NO company should own and be able to charge for a tool that benefits everyone.
