I-75 at Seven Oaks
I-75 at Seven Oaks
Why this petition matters
Interstate 75 sits 25 - 50 feet away from our homes. We haven’t had a noise study in sixteen years. Traffic has changed significantly since our homes were built.FDOT refuses to conduct a new study.
“ In the early planning stages of roadway widening projects, FDOT typically conducts a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study to evaluate the potential environmental effects the project may have on the surrounding area. This study process includes traffic noise studies used to make the initial decisions concerning noise barriers to be included in the proposed project. At this time, FDOT has no plans to add capacity to I-75 in Pasco County, so we are not currently conducting any PD&E studies in this area.
The section of I-75 adjacent to Seven Oaks was included in a previous PD&E study that has been constructed. The study was originally approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on November 27, 2000, and then again on February 2, 2004 due to changes tothe original design. These approval dates are considered the project’s “date(s) of public knowledge (DOPK)”. During that study, the FDOT undertook noise analyses which evaluated all existing noise sensitive receptors (residences) and those with building permits received prior to the DOPK. The DOPK in the vicinity of the Seven Oaks neighborhood was February 2, 2004 and your dwelling was constructed in 2014, ten years after the DOPK.”
