Why this petition matters

Started by Allergy Advocacy Association

Recently the Food and Drug Administration issued interim food labeling guidelines in response to supply chain issues and shortages brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. Here are the temporary food labeling regulations.

We are asking the FDA to require food companies to publicly disclose *any* food substitutions they make in their products by announcing it on their websites and social media. (Under the new guidance from the FDA, the top 8 major allergens and 5 other priority allergens should not be substituted.)

There are 3 things you can do to help.

  1. Sign this petition to share your concerns with the New York State delegation in Washington including those on the Congressional Asthma and Allergy Caucus and food manufacturing trade groups.
  2. Reach out to the FDA to support public disclosure of "any" food substitution. Click here and include docket number FDA-2020-D-1139 Tell the FDA how you and your family will be impacted by these sudden changes to food labeling laws.
  3. You can also mail your concerns to the FDA (including the docket number FDA-2020-D-1139).
