Sammie Stoffregen started this petition to FCRS/MWR management

Many are aware of the growing need for proper turnout management and rotation at the Ft. Campbell Riding Stables. A viable, no cost and immediate solution to set the stables on this path is to merge the mares and geldings into one herd. This is the first step to creating a successful turnout rotation. But there is also a larger need for this.

The gelding pasture is in poor shape due to the drainage issues not yet fixed and the subsequent sink hole(s) that have formed or are forming. At this point, the bulk of the turnout space is a 'dry lot', with limited vegetation. A 'bandaid fix' to this was opening a small section at the top of the lot, but this did nothing to address the issues remaining for 3/4 of the lot. Because of the extremely wet season we've experience, the turnout is in a continued state of mud. Most spots are several inches deep, or have several inches of standing water. The ruts in the ground are also continuing to worsen. All of these conditions are pushing the turnout from 'in rough shape' to dangerous.

The issue has been brought to both FCRS management and the immediate MWR management, but nothing is done. When asked for an actual plan to fix things, we are ignored or placated with 'things take time', 'we are looking into it', or the most common, 'please have patience with us.' We've shown more than enough patience at this point, coming up on six months worth. At this point, the boarders of the Ft. Campbell Riding Stables are coming together, via signatures in this petition, to show management that we want to merge the herds. Enough is enough. It is time to take the first obvious, no cost step into proper turnout management, and at the same time, provide a safer environment for the geldings. When a life-altering injury occurs to a gelding, as it has in past years, management cannot turn a blind eye because we've asked for action and they've done nothing. It is time they be held accountable and start implementing changes for a more successful and safe environment.
