The pre-calculus department at Ridge Point High School is evidently lacking in thoroughly teaching students the pre-calculus curriculum. Kassi Carey prepares the pre-calculus students for nothing but failure due to her teaching methods and test structures.

Kassi Carey "teaches" students through the program "Classkick" which provides insufficient practice problems that are astonishingly basic in comparison to the topics covered on the tests. What is assigned on "Classkick" is the sole source of practice given; it is extremely rare for paperwork to be assigned and there are very limited problems on the "Classkick" assignment to complete. Regardless, students should not be reliant on online sources to teach their curriculum. In addition, tests created by Carey do not mirror what was taught in class whatsoever and are purposefully formulated to deceive and trick students. Furthermore, the quizzes and tests she creates have minimal questions (sometimes as few as 5) without point baselines. This leads to students failing at alarming rates due to the heavy weight of each question. Students go into tests with hours of studying behind them only to receive results that are not reflective of their efforts. This is unfair due to the way that Carey does not show any sympathy or leniency toward her students and does not offer point curves (even when class test averages are below subpar). She also refuses to drop students' lowest test scores from the gradebook at the end of the semester regardless of the fact that she inputs more than enough grades than what is required from the district. Why should the students suffer as a result from inadequate and lazy teaching?

It is ironic and performative for a teacher who places such an extensive amount of emphasis upon mental health and well-being to cause such distress and anguish amongst high school students. Students should not be having breakdowns in the midst of their classes, and it is not fair for teachers who are unempathetic, scheming, and unprepared to have the ability to affect and determine the fate of students' GPA's. If Kassi Carey's ability to teach met the necessary standard, students' averages would reflect that. Currently, they do not.
