FAU students wanting to ensure good and prosperous health by suspending classes

Dear President John Kelly,

On Behalf of all Florida Atlantic University Students:

Due to the  recent development with the coronavirus we are concerned about our safety.
Although no one has been confirmed with the virus in Palm Beach County, we don't want to risk changing that and putting the faculty, staff, and students in danger. The numbers are escalating every day that passes by. We do not want a single student from FAU to test positive. According to the New York Times, Doctor Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, says  “I don’t think there’s any question that someone who is without symptoms and carrying the virus can transmit the virus to somebody else.” (Rabin, 2020) We don't know who your students came into contact with over the spring break and where they may have traveled. President Kelly, we can never be too safe.
Frankly, it isn't enough just to wash our hands. We must do more to combat the spread of the coronavirus by suspending classes for this semester. Lectures should be moved to an online format and exams administered via LockDown Browser. Whatever means necessary. This is not about cancelling classes but rather taking the necessary precautions in order to keep the FAU family in good and prosperous health. I hope you understand.

An end to this epidemic is no where near in proximity. This is our new reality and we must adjust accordingly. I hope you feel the same way.

Listed below are hundreds of my classmates signatures in agreeance.
