We are calling on Fordham University and our president Father McShane to release a statement regarding the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Sean Reed, and George Floyd, and all recent incidences of race driven hate crimes in the US. If the University really wants to support its student body it must address these incidences and provide support for those who have been affected by these events. It is never right for the University to stay silent on issues of race and injustice. This is a time when the University should be directly speaking out against the racism that continues to plague our country and letting the student body know that the collegiate institution that they attend cares about them and condemns all acts of racism and discrimination. Being a PWI this institution needs to stand up and show their support for those students who are a part of the black community. To stay silent is to reject these students and to make them feel completely unwelcome. To stay silent is to side with those who commit race-based hate crimes and acts of police brutality.

Sign this petition and let Fordham University know how important it is for them to speak out at this time. Thank you!
