£2 All Day Parking For Fareham Workers

£2 All Day Parking For Fareham Workers
Why this petition matters

At the moment for workers or shop owners that work in Fareham Town Centre who commute to work by car have to pay £3.50 for all-day parking. For a full-time worker, this works out at £70 per month and up to £840 per year! As this money goes to Fareham Borough Council this can easily be seen as an extra council tax charge on those that have to chosen to work in our local community at a time when we need to shop local to save our community high street. Fareham workers pay enough council tax to give our community the vital services it requires; it is wrong to simply charge them more for simply going to work.
That is why this campaign argues that Fareham Borough Council introduces a Workers Permit for the outer car parks for workers that work in Fareham; this permit should cost workers £2 for all-day parking as well as not involve a season ticket which restricts people to park on certain days to save money. This can be done by entering car registrations onto the system. This change would still give the Council the money they require as well as saving full-time workers up to £360 per year (the same cost as a 5 day holiday in Cyprus). Encourage and reward workers to work local. Sign the Petition and let's save the High Street.
