Petitioning Chief Executive FAO Steve Auty

Retract plans to close The Pilgrims Hospice, Canterbury in 2016 and allow it to remain in its current working state.

Unfortunately, many cancer sufferers are admitted to the Pilgrims hospice every year to allow them to end their lives with comfort and dignity. People with long term illnesses such as MS are also admitted as respite for their families. It is a place filled with warmth, comfort, and that of a relaxed atmosphere, the sort of atmosphere we all like to spend our time within, especially to end our dying days within.. However, the hospice doesn't only care for it's inpatients, the staff also takes care of each and every family member and friend who enters the hospice. They laugh with them, as well as wipe away their tears, let alone the expertees they provide to their patients. I'm sure to Steve Auty, closing the hospice is a "exciting change", but what about to the people who matter - the patients and their relatives? I wonder how he would feel about this new "exciting change" if he was admitted into a hospice in Ashford, but because of transport difficulties his friends and family wasn't able to visit as often, if at all.... Because that is exactly what future service users of the hospice will now face, and it isn't right nor fair. Any illness is bad enough, but potentionally feeling abandoned by family and friends through no fault of their own will no doubt be the ultimate killer. We need to come together and stop the hospice from closing, for everyone's sakes. Yes, maybe they will save a whopping £500,000 a year, but that also means they are putting prices on lives, which is humainly wrong.

We MUST stop the Pilgrims Hospice from closing, but we can only do this together. If we can get enough signatures, then this can become a parliamentary issue, which is what we want!!

United we stand, divided we fall. People, let's STOP THE HOSPICE FROM BEING CLOSED!!!!!!!!
