Fannin/75 behind fisherman trail

Fannin/75 behind fisherman trail
Why this petition matters
The city is wanting to zone change the small strip that runs along fisherman trail from agricultural to mixed use that runs from fannin to 75.
We understand that sadly growth is bound to happen and can’t fight the good fight forever but with it we also want our city to be a individual from other cities, not carbon copy like others. However, we want the best interest, safety and health for everyone too.
We are ok with the small homes made for retirees, we are not ok with the large padded parking, the 3 story apartments or the businesses that will have high traffic, noise and especially large garbage bins that will bring rats, raccoons, and all sorts of bugs that will be right behind our homes.
We are ok with zoning for a retirement one-story homes as they make great neighbors, we are not ok with a giant apartment building and businesses that block views and are terrible at cleanliness upkeep.
So to have the full approval of those on Fisherman trail and beyond, there needs to be a blueprint change and that apartment building along with businesses needs to go elsewhere. Instead add more retirement one-story home and give them a nice park they can sit and enjoy in the center of it all with walking paths and lots of trees to shade the area.
With this, everyone on Fisherman trail needs to know exactly what will happen with the tree line behind our homes and when a retaining wall be built to keep wash out from causing foundation pullback when trees are torn down. This is extremely important or there will be no approval from those on Fisherman trail.
Also, the company that tears down these trees need to know not to burn them. When bucees was clearing land to build, the ashes of this flew in the air over Hunter’s Ridge for weeks and put many of the residents on edge worring that there will be fire issues.
So again we don’t give our full approval on this but we are ok with retirees having one-story homes in a quite and much needed community.
