Save the Fannie Bay Equestrian Club

This petition had 753 supporters

Fannie Bay Equestrian Club is a not-for-profit community club that has been part of the City of Darwin for nearly 50 years. Council has given the Club notice to vacate it's home at East Point in 2020, blocking the club from taking up a 20 year option provided in the current lease agreement. The Fannie Bay Equestrian Club is home to 30 horses and more than 100 members, but it has a reach far beyond it's membership. The Club invites around two thousand non-members onto its grounds a year through open days where Darwin's children can have a pony ride. Many families bring their children up to the club to feed the horses carrots - a horse experience for the cost of a carrot. The council made the decision to evict the club with no consultation. Eviction means the end of a thriving, 50 year old community group. It's an irrational decision. It should be rescinded.
