Fly the Aboriginal Flag permanently at Plantagenet Shire Offices in Mount Barker WA

Mount Barker has a proud Aboriginal community. The Noongar people who live here belong to this country and have maintained that connection over the generations despite the impacts of colonisation. The Australian and West Australian flag are flown all the time at the Shire and the Aboriginal Flag is only flown on special occasions, such as Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week. We would like to see it flown ALL the time, in recognition of Aboriginal people. This recognition is important, not just for Aboriginal people but for the whole community, as there is much work still to be done in partnership with each other to recover from the impacts of dispossession.
