All CDCR institutions have vending machines for families and their loved ones
Families go visit their loved ones to bond and have the human connection that is very much needed. It is a scientific fact that humans need human and loving interactions. Families travel from all over, drive for hours and bring everyone from children, parents, grandparents and other family and friends. They do this because the person in CDCr's custody, mean the world to them. In these visits so many CDCR run and operated institutions care so little for the incarcerated let alone the families, they do not even provide a simple vending machine where family can get food and drinks for them and their loved ones. This is absolutely cruel and unusual treatment of both incarcerated and their families. There is absolutely no reason to deny something so simple to human beings. CDCR continues to show their lack of care and fall short consistently to the word Rehabilitation. A word they paid extra for, yet have failed to show the meaning of it. CDCR needs to start being proactive in their high profit business, and start showing some compassion and care for our loved ones and the families that stand by them. A simple drink and snack is a small gesture to show that they do view our loved ones as human beings and do value family that directly falls under Rehabilitation and is perhaps the biggest source behind it. Families having to sit for hours with their loved one and not have anything to drink or eat is again just cruel and negligence on CDCr's part. We are asking CDCR to correct this immediately and provide vending machines and a vendor for all institutions that they poorly run. We ask that they start moving with the now and not the past barbaric and inhumane treatment and rules and regulations that they have been. We ask that they see the changes from the new bills in place that to Governor is signing and the movement in prison reform and jump on board. We shouldn't have to fight this hard for basic care or compassion. We ask you sign and share this petition and we hold CDCr accountable and let them hear us!
