Savannah Claver started this petition to Families of incarcerated loved ones

As most of you know and have been dealing with personally, many states haven’t been having contact visits due to covid. This is 100% understood, as nobody wants this pandemic spreading rapidly through the prisons. This would be devastating for all inmates, and put more stress on the family members that worry about them daily.

Recently, in our state prisons they made new visiting guidelines due to the covid pandemic. The new rules are as follows:

Effective the week or August 10th, 2020, non-contact room visits will be conducted via scheduled appointment. In order to be eligible for a non-contact visit, residents must be disciplinary free for one (1) year prior to the proposed visit, not produced a positive urinalysis for two (2) years (excluding NHDOC prescribed medication) and be free from any visiting restrictions. Eligible residents may receive one (1) visit per month as space and appointments allow.
Visitation Guidelines:
•Visits will be 45 minutes in duration
•Each visit may accommodate a maximum of two (2) adult visitors, 18 years of age or older. No minor children will be permitted into the facility.
•All parties (visitors and resident) must don a face covering over their nose and mouth prior to entering any of our facilities.
•Visitors must be approved on the resident's visiting list. All standards set forth in PPD 305.00 Visiting Policy
•Designated visiting room workers will clean and disinfect the visitation area and contact surfaces in between visits.

Most of these things are good for the protection of our loved ones, but also for many, visits with their families and children especially are what get them through their sentences. Since the visits are still no contact there shouldn’t be an issue with the children being able to be present at the visits with their families.

Also as many of us know it’s almost impossible for our loved ones to stay ticket free, when even the smallest infraction can cost them their visits. One of their new guidelines requires them to be ticket free for a year prior to requested visit, which is unfair and has nothing to do with the pandemic itself! With the visits being limited due to amount of available staff and space, I understand that visits should be a reward. With this being said, this shouldn’t clock back a year from when the rule was implemented. Everyone should start on a fresh, on the day this came into place.

Again thank you all for taking the time to read this, and thank you all for your support!!
