The schools dress code is insanely sexist. Girls cannot show their shoulders, thighs, backs, or stomachs without it being “distracting”. We cannot wear spaghetti straps, shorts that are below finger tip length, jeans that have holes in them and if they do you have to wear a pair of shorts or leggings under it, crop tops even if they show an inch of your stomach, plain leggings and if we do we have to wear shorts over them, stuff that shows even the tiniest part of your top cleavage, ect. Mind you it is very very hard for a growing teenage girl to find comfortable shorts that are finger tip length or more that also doesn’t make them feel disgusting or “ugly”. If we wear any of these to school we get pulled out of our classrooms down to the office and having it interrupt our education to either change your clothes or get sent home for the rest of the day. Las Vegas is a desert and gets to 115°F in school times and girls have to cover up in the heat. I’ve seen boys break the dress code and no teacher cares at all wether it’s sagging, shoulders showing, thighs showing, rips in the jeans, shorts that aren’t finger tip length, or their stomachs showing. Personally i was wearing a tank top with a jacket thrown over it in the heat and everything was covered but because a little bit of the top of my cleavage showed i got dress coded when i CANNOT control how big my boobs are. School is suppose to be a place for you to learn and make friends and to be comfortable, not having to cover up every tiny thing when boys get “distracted” by it. It’s promoting rape culture and making girls cover up in 100°F weather for the boys not the get distracted by them instead of teaching boys to keep it in their pants. Girls will get pulled out of the classrooms just because of what they are wearing making them have less time to learn
