We write this letter to request your support in our efforts to acquire a Crossing Guard presence on 14th Avenue, specifically for the intersections of 14th Avenue at South 12th Street and 11th Street. 

This intersection sees heavy foot traffic from our students - both from students who walk to school as well as students who take the bus on  14th Avenue. In addition to a request for a Crossing Guard presence, we have also requested:

• A scheduled traffic safety assessment.  
• Signage for both speed limit and school hours parking on 14th Avenue between South 11th and 12th streets.  
• Speed humps on 14th Avenue between South 10th and 12th street.  
  Stop signs on both corners of 14th Avenue.
• Any additional traffic safety measures are deemed necessary by Newark Police Department. 

We are asking that our HMS families sign this petition supporting safety measures outlined above. we appreciate in advance your consideration to elevate your voice around an important issue for our school community. 

At GOLCS and HMS, safety is our top priority.  We look forward to working together to ensure that we are doing all we can to protect our school community.  While it is uncertain that all requests will be honored, we believe that it is important to share our voices and view this as the beginning of a process as we engage stakeholders.
