Islay Maggie started this petition to Fairfield High School SLT

Fairfield notified its Year 11 students far too abruptly about their end of year, pushing deadlines for exams and coursework forward and giving pupils only a weekend to finish lots of work and come to terms with sudden adjustments. There has been an outcry online about the harm that an extended period of online school will have on students’ mental health - which is all too familiar from those few months at the start of 2021 where we were all holed up in our rooms, staring at screens all day. Not to mention, many students have stated that they won’t do any or all of the work set online, but would happily come into school and peacefully enjoy the end of their academic year. So we are imploring Fairfield to extend the period of in-school education by at least a couple of weeks, or until the end of term like our peers who attend other secondary schools around the city. We - Fairfield Year 11 students - want more time to prepare for certain exams as well as to say goodbye to the school community, and crucially less time participating in online school.
