Fairfax County Public Schools has the sport of rugby listed as a prohibited activity and will not allow tackle rugby to be played at a high school level within the county. Rugby be should be allowed to be played at any FCPS high school wanting to support the sport and start a team. Rugby is a sport that can be played by both boys and girls, promotes respect, fitness, discipline, and structure. In addition to the respect aspect of the game, rugby is safer than other sports, as noted in this article from a past president of the American College of Sports Medicine.
