We're asking for Fairfax County to preserve several old-growth trees on the banks of Little Hunting Creek.  The county intends to raze two shoreline lots as part of its project to replace the sewer line that runs from Wessynton to Stratford Landing under the creek.  The County's Plan is outlined here:

Please help tell Fairfax County to come up with a better plan and preserve these trees.

In a few weeks, they will destroy around 20 trees. Of these, 3 trees are over 100' high and between 90 and 150 years of age.  Fairfax County intends to chop them down in order to temporarily park construction equipment.  While it's understandable that some foliage needs to be removed in order to provide access to the creek, we find it unconscionable to destroy trees that clearly existed at the time the original sewer line was installed in 1961.

In question are two old-growth oak trees and a birch.  All three are adjacent to Thomas J. Stockton Pkwy.  These trees occupy a surface footprint smaller than a standard parking space.  They are home to wildlife and offer afternoon shade to the neighborhood.  Please help tell Fairfax County to come up with a better plan.
