It's the 21st century, and India needs to move on from equating beauty with colour. We need to stop buying fairness creams, and we need to demand an end to the propaganda pushed by companies selling these creams.

Fair & Lovely, a leader in the market for fairness crimes, advocates that a successful career or happy life depend on fairness. This is intensely discriminatory and makes the problems of racism and casteism, that are often linked to colour in India, much worse.

Despite guidelines against these ads, the very use of the word 'fairness' in a product pushes the idea that fairness equals better.

See this video by 'Voice of Ram' demanding Hindustan Unilever to shutdown its Fair & Lovely brand by the 15th of August 2017. Sign this petition if you support the campaign. Challenging the biggest brand could be a start to affecting the others.
